Each article in the Life in Trump’s America Series examines different aspects of life in America with an authoritarian leader. Topics include: a Thought Police Department, a police state, the end of Freedom of speech, and what life would be like if the President declared martial law.
Surviving a mass shooting is the most recent article. If the government refuses to act to prevent mass shootings, someone should be teaching Americans how to survive one.
Each story looks at a change we’re already noticing and travels a year or so into the future to examine what life in Trump’s America will look like if we don’t stop it now.
The phrase, “sleepwalking into authoritarianism” is accurate in this moment. People either aren’t taking things seriously enough or they have become numb to the “crazy antics of Donald Trump” and aren’t paying attention to what he’s doing.
What some people are missing is how the deployment of troops to cities throughout the country is actually laying the groundwork for Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act and cancel the 2026 midterm elections.
