Several articles have been published telling the story of life in Trump’s America. Some of them are written in story form, with a narrator following an American citizen through a day in their life. The narrator draws attention to how living in the country has changed since just a year ago.

With each person’s story, readers learn about changes in the country after a democratically elected president becomes an authoritarian leader.

Each article in the Life in Trump’s America Series examines different aspects of life in the U.S. under authoritarian leadership. Topics include: a Thought Police Department, a police state, the end of Freedom of speech, and what life is like after the President declares martial law.

Surviving a mass shooting is the most recent addition. If the government refuses to act to prevent mass shootings, someone should be teaching Americans how to survive one.

Each story looks at a change that has already happened and travels a year or so into the future to examine how life in Trump’s America will look if we don’t stop it now.

The phrase, “sleepwalking into authoritarianism,” is accurate in this moment. People either aren’t taking things seriously enough, or they have become numb to the “crazy antics of Donald Trump” and aren’t paying much attention to what he’s doing.

What some people are missing is how the deployment of troops to cities throughout the country is actually laying the groundwork for Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act and cancel the 2026 midterm elections.

Possibly all elections.
