All content written by Serena, the Senior Reporter for Resist Hate, is available for republication under a Creative Commons BY NC-ND 4.0 license.
This means you may republish and share Serena’s articles for free as long as you follow these guidelines and the terms of the license, which includes not using the content for commercial purposes.
Content written by other RH staff writers is not included and you must contact the original author to request permission. In the byline of every article, the author’s name is followed by “Staff Writer” so you can quickly differentiate our content from news articles republished from external independent news sources. You can contact staff writers using this request form. Please include the title of the content you’d like to republish and the name of the writer.
News articles from other sources are also available for republication under a Creative Commons license, but you must view the original article on the original website and read their Republishing Guidelines, which may differ from ours.
How to Republish Our Content
To republish a post from our website written by the Senior Reporter or a staff writer, you must follow each step of our guidelines and abide by the rules of the Creative Commons License.
To republish content written by the Senior Reporter, or after you have obtained permission from a staff writer, follow these guidelines.
1. Credit us.
Please include the full name of the author in the byline and attribute the post to Resist Hate with a link to the original URL of the article. If the original post was written by one of our community members, please credit it using: “by “author’s name” on ResistH8.com”
2. Include our links.
If you’re republishing online, please link to the URL of the article on Resisth8.com and preserve all or our links.
3. Edit the Canonical Metadata.
Please edit the “rel=canonical” tag in the HTML of your version of our article to let search engines know that ours is the original version. The tag looks like this: <link rel=”canonical” href=“https://resisth8.com/slug-of-the-original-article” />.
Please make sure that the Resist Hate article URL is in the tag and not a URL from your website. For more information about canonical metadata, refer to this Google SEO link.
Most SEO plugins add a location to set the canonical URL in the plugin’s settings box at the bottom of the editor (if you are using Wordpress).
4. Do Not Edit Our Work.
Don’t edit our content, except to reflect relative changes: changing “today” to “yesterday” or “here” to “in Chicago.” If you add any additional content, include a label with it: “added by <your website>.”
5. Add Original Captions if You Use Our Creative Commons or Public Domain Images.
All of our images carry Creative Commons licences or are in the public domain. If you use one of our images, keep the caption used in the original article. Graphics or AI-generated images created by our team can be used as long as you credit us by including: “Credit: Resisth8.com” (linked to the RH website) in the caption.
If the featured image of an article does not include a caption crediting a source, it was created by RH. If you are unsure, please contact us.
6. Don’t Sell or Syndicate Our Content.
This includes publishing our work on another website or syndicating it on platforms or apps such as Apple News, Google News, etc.
7. Republish One Article at a Time.
We don't permit anyone to republish all of our content automatically; you must select stories to be republished individually.
8. Provide Contact Information.
Any website our work is republished on must include up-to-date contact information in a conspicuous location (easy to find), in case there’s a need to contact you about updates or changes to the article. You also must agree to immediately remove our content from your website if requested.
9. Tag Us on Social Media.
