If you missed the CNN interview Dana Bash had with JD Vance Sunday morning, I‘m going to help you out by summarizing the worst parts before you watch the full interview.
It started with Dana questioning Vance about the Haitian immigrant rumor he started online.
He defended himself, claiming that he was just bringing a complaint from one of his constituents in Springfield, Ohio to light since the media ignores the problems surrounding immigration.
Dana didn't ask this question, but I would have asked why he would amplify a story from a caller who claimed to be a constituent (could've been anyone), without verifying/confirming the story. That would have been the responsible thing to do before sharing misinformation and hate online.
The worst part: Bash reminded Vance that there were school closures after receiving bomb threats—in one case the threat specifically stated that it was targeting Haitian immigrants—and she asked how he felt about being the one who caused that chaos.
Vance became angry and acted like he was so offended that she would lie that his false claim was the cause of the problems in Springfield (IT WAS).
Finally, he repeated the false claim that Haitian immigrants were “undocumented” and here “illegally” because of Kamala Harris.
Here’s the full interview, thanks to Forbes. Enjoy!
