Not that they couldn't have cut a LOT from the Pentagon budget. What about the $30 billion in subsidies we give fossil fuel companies every year? You know, the corporations that make billions in profit? I don’t think they need any help from the American taxpayers.
Congress could raise the corporate tax rate (or go back to what it used to be: 38% in 1950, 45% in 1951) and make the rich pay their fair share in taxes. Those two things alone would boost the amount of tax revenue coming into the federal government.
