I’m writing this letter to Republican voters to open up the lines of communication between people in the two major political parties.
Instead of fighting with each other (which is the goal of the rich and powerful), we should work together and hold politicians accountable for catering to corporations, lobbyists, and the 1% instead of doing what’s in the best interest of the American people — us.
Our tax dollars are supposed to go toward things that will make our lives better.
Do you agree?
Then let’s ignore their attempts to pit us against each other using stupid ‘culture wars’ and call out those corrupt SOBs in Washington, D.C.
Letter to Republican Voters
I sometimes feel like the lies and gaslighting from your politicians and the conservative media (like Fox News) hold so much power over your beliefs that you subconsciously refuse to accept any information that differs from what they tell you.
Even if that information includes facts and the truth.
The purpose of this ‘letter to Republican voters’ is not to lecture you, criticize you, belittle you, or make fun of you. I only want to give you some information that you might not be aware of if you’re only listening to Fox News and conservative influencers.
Health Insurance
One of the biggest issues right now is people losing their health insurance.
The Big Beautiful Bill (I call it the Big Fugly Bill) cut close to $1 trillion from Medicaid to pay for tax cuts for billionaires, which has resulted in people losing health insurance and rural hospitals being forced to close.
Republicans’ refusal to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies caused premiums to increase by 2x to 4x, making coverage unaffordable for many Americans.
Both the cuts and the refusal to extend ACA subsidies have left more and more people without health insurance coverage.
But it isn’t just the Republicans in Congress making your life more difficult. GOP-led state legislatures are contributing to the effort, too.
By the way, I hate referring to states as “red states” and “blue states” because that in itself is polarizing.
I prefer to say, “states with Republican/Democratic leadership.”
Do you live in a Republican-led state? Did you know the GOP’s opposition to Medicaid expansion is so entrenched that they actively reject federal funding meant to insure their own residents? Rather than using these dollars to expand healthcare access, several states have chosen to send the money back to Washington—leaving vulnerable populations uninsured and directly endangering lives.
The money to expand access to healthcare comes from Washington, D.C., so when there’s a Democrat in the White House, Republican governors will act against the best interests of the people living in their state and refuse any type of financial aid coming from the federal government.
Here’s the thing. Americans pay taxes to fund things that improve their lives. Your governor is throwing away your tax dollars instead of using the money to improve your life — all because it came from a Democratic president.
Do you see how petty they’re being? It’s a perfect example of the saying, “cutting off your nose to spite your face.”
Republican-led states are the worst — literally
States with Republican leadership have the most uninsured citizens. They also have the most people in poverty, the highest rates of deaths from gun violence, and the lowest-ranking public education systems.
That’s not an accident. It’s intentional.

News show hosts and Right-wing influencers in the conservative ”news” space spend a lot of time talking about culture war issues. They launch or discuss “culture wars” to distract you from what’s really going on in the government.
Just to clarify what the term “culture wars” refers to, here are a few examples of the most recent ones:
Transgender women and girls playing in women’s sports
Before trans participation in sports was adopted as a strategic culture war wedge issue by right-wing political figures and anti-equality groups, trans students have been included in school sports for over a decade including in California (since 2013) and New Jersey (since 2009) to zero complaints.
Discussing the national wave of coordinated legislative attacks on trans rights in 2021, a Human Rights Campaign spokesperson explained to NBC News: “These bills are not addressing any real problem, and they’re not being requested by constituents.
Rather, this effort is being driven by national far-right organizations attempting to sow fear and hate.”
Critical Race Theory
Republican politicians passed legislation banning the teaching of CRT in public schools. School boards dealt with parents ranting about CRT in the classroom. Fox News ran segment after segment on “the dangers of CRT.”
The Facts:
Critical Race Theory (CRT) is primarily an academic and legal framework taught at the college and postgraduate levels. Originating at institutions like Harvard Law School in the 1970s, it examines how historical, societal, and legal structures perpetuate racial inequality.

I won’t insult your intelligence or waste your time by fact-checking this nonsense. To anyone who thinks this is true, ask yourself the following questions:
Are students walking into the bathroom to see a boy peeing into a litter box? Or a girl squatting over it?
Wouldn’t one student’s poop take up the entire box? Who scoops it? Does the janitor have a human-sized litter box scooper? Does he go in a hundred times a day so he can scoop out the poop before the entire bathroom (and hallway) starts to smell?
Does the school use clumping or non-clumping litter?
Hopefully this helps you to see how a belief this irrational fails a test of logic.

War on Woke
It’s not only the media and influencers doing this to distract you. Your politicians do the same thing. Especially when it comes to the obsession with “wokeness.”
Republican politicians are against the idea of being “woke” because it means your eyes are open and you’re aware of what the government and top 1% are doing.
Here is the definition of woke (you may not know since GOP politicians have never been able to explain what they mean by “woke.” ): Beginning in the 1960’s, woke was an adjective — mostly used in the African-American community, according to Merriam-Webster — to mean “aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues—especially issues of racial and social justice.”
Then the Right distorted its meaning and started using it as a pejorative for people on the Left who care about human rights and social injustice, and who talk about improving the lives of working-class Americans.
Fox News and other conservative news outlets (OAN, Newsmax), are very skilled in making viewers feel afraid and/or angry.
They know that getting you to vote for members of the Party they represent is easier if you’re scared of transgender athletes (or Trump’s false claim of schools performing sex-change operations to change your child’s gender “your send your son to school and 2 days later, he comes hime as your daughter,*) or angry at Democrats.
They have referred to fellow Americans with a different political ideology as your “enemy” for a long time now. They are not your enemy. A disagreement doesn’t make you enemies.
I still remember a country — before Donald Trump got into politics — where everyone got along and your political party didn’t determine who you were friends with.
I’ve heard Fox News hosts say, “The Democrats hate you.” That is not true. How can you hate someone you don’t know?
Immigration
Republican politicians complain about the southern border incessantly when there’s a Democrat in the White House.
That is precisely why they don’t want to fix it.
Did you know that a Republican senator, James Lankford of Oklahoma, worked together with other senators — Republicans, Democrats, and Independents — to come up with a solution to our broken immigration system?
They were successful. Senator Lankford introduced the most conservative border security bill ever.
It would have increased the number of Border Patrol officers to give the current overworked officers help protecting the border. It also would have increased the salaries of those hard-working CBP officers.
That’s why the Border Patrol officers’ union wrote a letter in support of the bill and told NBC News that the bill would significantly lower the number of border crossings.
The Border Act of 2024 also would have added more immigration judges to hear asylum cases and speed up the immigration system. Immigrants who cross the border to seek asylum are released before their asylum hearing because the system is so backed up that the average wait time for an asylum hearing is 4–8 years!
Obviously, we can’t detain someone for 4–8 years when they haven’t committed a crime, and we can’t return them to a dangerous country to wait. That would defeat the purpose of them seeking asylum in the first place.
Adding more immigration judges would have resulted in cases being heard more quickly (with a goal of immediate hearings).
If an immigrant had their hearing right away and their asylum claim was denied, CBP could then send them back to their origin country or help them find another country willing to accept them — instead of allowing them to enter the country only to deny their asylum claim years later.
That would have resulted in a huge reduction in — if not an end to — undocumented immigrants being released into the country to await a hearing.
The Border, Mass Deportation, and the Fentanyl Crisis
Customs and Border Protection has equipment that detects fentanyl being smuggled into the country by vehicle. Sounds great, right?
It’s sitting in a warehouse collecting dust.
Why?
CBP doesn’t have the funding to have it installed.
This bill also would have provided the funding necessary to install the fentanyl detection system. That could have aided efforts to deal with the fentanyl crisis.
Those are just a few of the provisions in the bipartisan Border Act of 2024 that would have helped enormously with the border crisis. It was more conservative than Democrats would have liked, but something had to be done, and quickly, so they compromised.
Then why didn’t Congress pass it?
The bill had the votes needed to easily pass — then Donald Trump told Speaker Mike Johnson to “kill it.”
Trump didn’t want Republicans to pass the bill because it would ‘give Biden a win‘ by accomplishing something to deal with the border crisis.
That’s bad, but the main reason Trump didn’t want the bill to pass is worse.
Trump wanted to campaign on the border in the 2024 presidential election (he probably already had all of the Mass Deportation Now signs made).
If the problems at the border had been resolved, Trump couldn’t have used border crisis talking points against the Democrats.
It also would have been hard to get people on board with mass deportation if the immigration system were functioning and undocumented immigrants weren’t entering the country.
Did they finally see it?
When Trump killed the conservative border security bill, I thought for sure Republicans would be angry.
I turned on Fox News and was disappointed to see the hosts lying to you about what was in the bill. Trump was telling crowds at his rallies a set of lies that PolitiFact had to correct:
- The “5,000 migrants a day” myth: Trump claimed the bill allowed 5,000 illegal crossings a day before any action could be taken. In reality, the bill mandated border shutdowns if daily averages reached 5,000, or a 7-day average of 4,000 — designed to trigger expulsions, not incentivize entry.
- Funding for “millions of illegals”: He alleged the legislation funded the processing and entry of millions of migrants. Actually, the proposal provided funding to significantly increase Border Patrol agents, detention beds, and deportation flights, while heavily restricting the asylum process.
- Encouraging illegal immigration: Trump labeled the bipartisan measure an “open border bill.” In truth, Border Patrol unions and conservative negotiators, such as Senator James Lankford, endorsed the legislation as the strictest set of border policies in decades.
- Denying his role: Trump publicly stated he wanted to be blamed for killing the legislation, though he later downplayed his involvement or shifted blame onto the Biden administration for border issues.

Think about it.
The bill came from a Republican senator, so it must have been really difficult for them to speak out against a bill that came from their own party — a bill that would have done something about the situation at the border, after they had spent years complaining and fearmongering over it.
For future reference, you can visit the Congress website and read the details of any bill you want. You can also look at voting records to see your politicians consistently voting against anything that would help you.
Armed with this knowledge, you can never be tricked or lied to again about what’s in a bill or what happened to a piece of legislation.
Education

I’m hoping this letter to Republicans, and the facts I’ve provided, will help you see that Republican politicians will always do what makes them and their friends rich, while making their constituents poor, uneducated, and uninsured.
Once you cut through the lies and propaganda, you can clearly see what’s happening. I think the abortion bans are something they can’t spin or hide. That one topic has opened a lot of eyes to the Republican mission to control women and take away their rights.
I hope you’ve read this letter with an open mind, and that it opens your eyes to what your politicians and media are doing to you.
