José Olivares is an investigative journalist and audio producer, reporting on immigration enforcement, U.S. operations in Latin America, and human rights. He was previously a Lead Producer for The Intercept’s podcasts. His award-winning reporting revealing wrongdoing, mismanagement, and abuses of power by state actors and private companies has been published by national and international news organizations. It has also led to congressional inquiries and policy change. He is originally from Mexico City and is based in Brooklyn.
