Donald Trump attacks âwhoever was stupid enoughâ to sign a certain trade agreement when Trump signed the trade agreement with Canada and Mexico during his first term. The country never said you have to be smart to be President of the United States, but it should at least be an unspoken prerequisite.
“President Donald Trump said Monday that sweeping U.S. tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico âwill go forwardâ when a monthlong delay on their implementation expires next week.
âThe tariffs are going forward on time, on schedule,â Trump said when asked at a White House press conference if the postponed tariffs on the two U.S. trading partners would soon go back into effect.
The president claimed that the U.S. has âbeen taken advantage ofâ by foreign nations on âjust about everything,â and reiterated his plan to impose so-called reciprocal tariffs.
One thing that no one bothered to mention was the fact that Trump signed the trade agreement with Canada, Mexico in the first place, so if the United States really had been taken advantage of, heâs the one who agreed to it.
âSo the tariffs will go forward, yes, and weâre going to make up a lot of territory,â Trump said.”
He wants you to forget, but don’tâspread the message far and wide.
