Donate So Migrant Children Don’t Have to Go to Court Alone
No one has a right to a free lawyer in immigration court. Not even a child. For years, the federal government paid for lawyers for migrant children who crossed the border without a parent. On July 31, the Trump administration ended that contract, breaking up a nationwide network of nearly 100 legal providers. More than 20,000 migrant children, many of them survivors of trafficking and abuse, could now lose their lawyers and have to face a judge alone.
Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) is still fighting for them. KIND provides free lawyers to children who arrive in the U.S. alone, working from offices across the country and with more than 730 law firms, companies, and law schools that take cases for free. But KIND counted on federal money for most of its budget and has already had to cut staff. Everything you give here goes to KIND, minus payment processing fees, and Resist Hate will post proof once the donation is made. Help make sure no child walks into that courtroom alone. 💛
