Murat Haner is an Assistant Professor in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Arizona State University. His research focuses on terrorism and political violence, with particular attention to the processes of radicalization, disengagement, and desistance, as well as public attitudes toward terrorism, victimization, and security policies. He has conducted extensive fieldwork in the Middle East as a U.S. Department of State Fulbright Fellow and has led multiple national and international surveys. Dr. Haner has also provided expertise for the United Nations, the European Union, and U.S. federal agencies. His work has appeared in leading journals, and he is co-author of Terrorism: Perspectives from the Social Sciences (Oxford University Press, 2025). At ASU, he teaches courses on Domestic Terrorism, International Terrorism, and Terrorism & Homeland Security.
