Jon Stewart is sick and tired of Republicans talking about cutting services and shuttering federal agencies under the guise of "efficiency," when they're not ignoring the one huge department that can't pass an audit. Jon Stewart breaks Musk’s brain — though it’s not hard to do — with a simple question.

The Damage Report's John Iadarola breaks it down.

Jon stewart breaks musk's brain with one simple question

Jon Stewart has a question for the Head of the Department of Government Efficiency (no matter what DOJ lawyers claim in court).

Why hasn’t DOGE looked into the bloated Pentagon budget? It seems like the obvious thing to start a quest to find fraud, waste, and abuse. The Pentagon has failed nearly every audit. If they can't show Congress how the budget was spent, maybe they don’t get more money until they figure it out?

We know how $93.4 billion of the 2024 budget was spent:

As I said in a recent post, “waste, fraud, and abuse” means anything that benefits people with low incomes, but does nothing for the billionaires. If you look at everything DOGE and the GOP have cut so far, they’ve gone after programs, funding, or agencies that benefit the poor and the most vulnerable people among us.

The upcoming cuts to Medicaid and Social Security are two programs that don't mean a damn thing to the top 1%. They don't need assistance with health insurance, and they certainly won’t need Social Security benefits.

They intentionally avoid paying Medicare taxes because they’ll never need it. If it doesn't benefit the billionaires, they see the money spent as “waste.”

The other meaning of “waste, fraud, and abuse” is money to show the peasants so they don't freak out as much when we give ourselves $4.5 trillion in tax cuts.

They feel as though they need to put up some of the money they’re giving billionaires in tax cuts. Perhaps to lessen the blowback when the American people find out that trillions of their tax dollars (not the billionaire’s because they don't pay taxes) were taken from those who need it the most and given to people who need it the least.
