“We are not a racist country,” is something Republican politicians like to claim. This video proves racism is real and it still exists in our society today.
Republican politicians and some voters will claim that systemic racism does not exist. My Sociology professor had us watch a video in class and I was grateful there’s something I’m able to show to the next person who claims that systemic racism is just a “woke” ideology from critical race theory.
I think GOP politicians make those claims as a way of covering for their White Nationalism and their base, a lot of which happens to be a bit racist.
It could also be a way for them to assuage the guilt they feel for the racist policies they’ve championed over the years, including the act of gerrymandering maps to disenfranchise voters of color.
