What are Member Groups? Who can create one? How do I start a group?
Members of the Resist Hate Community can create and join user groups.
Groups give members the opportunity to join or create niche networks, engage in conversations related to their shared interests, or organize events. Members can interact with each other without feeling overwhelmed by the larger community, while also gaining access to exclusive content and resources.
With our group management features, users can quickly create and customize groups with their own privacy and posting settings. To create a group, fill out the form on the Create Group page Choose a name, write a description, and add a banner image to make the group stand out. Set clear group rules to guide members’ behavior and ensure a positive experience for everyone. Decide on the group’s privacy settings: make it public for anyone to join, private (by invitation or approved request only), or hidden (only group members can see it).
Set post moderation options: choose to auto-publish posts or require approval before they go live to ensure quality content. Select who can invite new users: group owners, owner and moderators, or all members.
The Groups Directory is a page that lists public user groups that all members can join
News and Content
Where does the news on Resist Hate come from?
News articles are written by the Editor, staff writers, or republished by one of the independent, nonprofit news organizations that publish under a Creative Commons license. These third-party sources don’t take money from corporations. They are funded by reader donations. Like Resist Hate, this type of news outlet is not accountable to donors or corporations. When an organization is funded by billionaires or corporations, the donors feel entitled to police what news stories reporters cover, how they’re covered, and sometimes there’s unintended or intended censorship among the writers and reporters who create content for the news outlet.
In using a model where all of the funding comes from the readers, content creators enjoy the freedom to decide what news stories they cover and can divulge all of the facts details of a story without concernthat they might offend a donor or anger them enough that they stop funding the organization.
Other indelendent news sources could differ, but at Resist, business leadership, writers, and the Editor all share the same values, beliefs, goals, and vision for the future of the website and/or business. Our number one priority is to earn the trust of readers so we’re successful in our mission to provide honest, fact-based news coverage, and engaging, authentic political analysis and commentary
What type(s) of news will I find on Resist Hate?
The name of the organization is from the cause the owner is most passionate about. Serena, owner of Zany Progressive, LLC., parent company of Resist. She’s also Senior Writer/Editor and the Director of Resist Hate.
Serena was painfully shy, quiet, and introverted growing up. It was almost Y2K begire she was able to answer the phone and talk to strangers. As a young girl who was 6-feet-tall, Serena suffered through bullying that began in Junior High and continued through high school graduation.
Her heart aches for children who are bullied. Adults
aren’t doing enough to prevent or stop the harassment. After a friend’s 10-year-old nephew took his own life because of bullying at school and and online, Serena had to act.
As an advocate for anyone in need of support, Serena focused on bullying, racism, the anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric coming from Republicans, and hate in all if it’s forms.
The Goal: Grow the Community and organize to do more to combat hatred. Currently, Serena is planning to open an online store. Whatever she decides to sell will be aligned with her values and a percentage of e every will be donated to one of several anti-hate organizations in an alternating fashion. The rest will be invested back into Resist Hate to cover operating expenses, pay a writer to help out (Beljeve it of not, its difficult to find someone who is willing to create content as an unpaid volunteer
