The Supreme Court of the United States has agreed to hear a case challenging Donald J. Trump’s 2025 executive order aiming to end automatic birthright citizenship — a fundamental shift in immigration and constitutional law.

The order would bar U.S. citizenship for children born in the U.S. to parents who are undocumented or only temporarily present. Lower courts blocked it; now the Supreme Court will address its merits.

The case could reshape what it means to be “American by birth,” and has sparked nationwide debate about immigration, civil rights, and the scope of presidential power.
